Suspend The Head From Above

“Suspend the head from above.  Let the body hang from the head, dangling completely aligned.”

(Excerpt from Seeds of a Hermit, by Don Baird:  All Rights Reserved – Copyright 1986)

We have to reach a place in our movement where the body becomes light and nimble yet remains powerful.  If we “ground” too much our movements become awkward and heavy.  While our legs support us, we shouldn’t become stuck in the ground thinking that makes us more powerful and more rooted.  Being rooted is a thing to do within one’s self:  it has nothing to do with having your feet stuck in the ground.  Being centered with one’s self is the strongest grounding.  Then the student has immense power whether on the ground or in the air.
