The Way of Kung Fu

“The way of Kung Fu is taught by teachers but the essence must be comprehended by students.”

Very often, the student puts the responsibility of his/her learning on the teacher’s shoulders.  To a certain degree that’s how it should be.  But, on the other hand, it is extremely important for the student to fully engage in his/her martial art and absorb the deeper meanings – something the teacher cannot teach.  This is one of a zillion reasons why it’s so important for the student to train kung fu many years rather than just a few months.  It takes those years of hard work to begin to open up to the richer meanings of kung fu and what it is doing for you mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and psychologically.

Be patient:  train harder.

I like the idea of a teacher as a guide: one who has been there before and has set up sign posts. But it is up to the traveler to walk the path.

    Thanks
