Kung Fu For Kids

What’s in it for kids? Just about everything a parent would want for them and the plus side is, children love it too!!!

Martial Arts provides a wonderful atmosphere where kids of nearly all ages can train together learning lots of interesting and effective techniques for children’s self defense personal development.

Areas children will improve in when they train kung fu are:

  • greater confidence
  • stronger more coordinated bodies
  • greater physical flexibility
  • better concentration
  • improved behavior
  • more self-control
  • much improved eye/hand control
  • learn to curb anger (if it’s a problem)
  • challenges kids with too much energy (including those diagnosed with ADD and ADHD)
  • open their I.Q. in much the way that music does
  • and of course, they will be learning techniques to help them protect themselves

These benefits and more are just the beginning of how effective Kung Fu is in building balanced, centered children in the community. They are our future: training them in Kung Fu only makes sense.

Bring them in: keep them in. The children will make you proud.

We have a kid that trains in the adult class – I want to say he’s about 15 (and bigger than me). I’ve seen how much he’s opened up since he started training a year or so ago. I see the control he’s gotten over his body and the confidence he’s gained. I mentioned to him that theater is what got me through high school and he said, “Yeah, I’ve got Kung Fu for that.” At that moment I wished so much that I had martial arts when I was his age. I can’t imagine what it could’ve done for me to get that kind of a head start, let alone the adults we have who’ve been training since they were practically toddlers! I was 19 when I started – I’m sure glad I found it when I did! 🙂

Hi Micki… a great comment. Thanks. Starting at 19 didn’t hold you back though… look how well you’re doing. Kung Fu is magical in many ways. It’s unique and wonderful for all of us regardless of age or when we start.

I wish I started sooner. But in a way I did being born Chinese. 🙂 Seriously, I do wish I had this school when I was younger. There were many schools to join, but I was waiting for the right one for me, and our school is the only one for me. So despite starting much later than 19 like Micki, I started at the right time for me. 🙂

Hi “Bones”…. you started at the PERFECT time for you. Maybe at an earlier time it wouldn’t have had as much or the same meaning as it does for you today. All things have their perfect place. Yours is here, now. Great having you here, by the way. And, I’m extremely happy to know you’re enjoying yourself an getting so much out of it.

It’s never too late to start training Kung Fu! It would have been amazing to have had this school growing up, childhood would have been so different. Kung Fu has given me so much more confidence than I’ve ever had and having that confidence as a kid would have made growing up a lot easier! But like you said to Diana, she started at the perfect time for her just as I started at the perfect time for me. The school is like a second home for me and it has changed my life. When I have a kid, I plan to get them into Kung Fu as soon as they can throw a kick! And I’ll start teaching them forms as soon as they can walk! haha! I want them to grow up having everything Kung Fu can provide for them. It will probably make them easier to live with when they are a teenager too!
